 WHAT IS GOAL SETTING 

Goal setting is the process of taking active steps to achieve your desired outcomes. It is this one thing you want to achieve them. They are the efforts and actions you put in place to achieve your aim, vision, dream, target, result, etc. These goals can be long term or short term depending on what you want to achieve. Methods of goal setting and achievement can also vary from individual to individual. Your dream plus the method of accomplishment is your goal.


HOW TO SET AN ACHIEVABLE GOAL 

1. Prioritize your goals: The first step in setting your goal is to think and decide on what exactly you want to do. Working on several goals will led to nothing. Give full attention to what is important at a time. Focus and give priority at each goal at a time . Be bold to eliminate and put away those that are not pressing for the moment. You have not been able to achieve that dream because you put so many things together at the same time. Don’t be a jack of all and a master of none.


2. Apply the 2H1H rule: To set a goal; you need to ask yourself where, when and how will the goal be achieved. These questions give you specification on what to do. For example, I want to invest(how) and be one of the greatest business women(goal) in Africa(where) in 2026(when). So to draw a plan, use the 2W1H before you go ahead. 


3. Be smart about your goal: Your goal must be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound.

4. Write them down: One secret to becoming successful is to learn how to write down your goal clearly. Goals in your mind can sometimes seem very complex, unreal and sometimes not clear but immediately they are written down they become clearer, simpler and achievable


HOW TO ACHIEVE A GOAL

1. Commit your goals into God’s hands and He will establish your path(Proverbs 16:3)

2. Commitment: It is the attachment of seriousness and determination to your goal. You decide that even when it’s difficult, you still push on and not give up.

3. Clarity and simplicity: Clarity gives specification and specification gives achievement. Do not make a vague and difficult to understand, make it clear and precise for easy accomplishment

4. Feedback: Feedback shows how far you have gone. One can equally term it as evaluation of one’s progress. It gives you a critical analysis of your progress.Feedback allows us to reflect upon our ability and set new, more attainable goals.

5. Build a schedule and allow adequate time to pursue goals.

6. Keep reviewing your goals: Make the effort to always revisit the goal you have set, see the progress you’ve made, what were the ups and downs and how can you overcome them. Also make the effort to put in measures that things that will always remind you of your set goals.

7. Also check your environment to eliminate all obstacles that any be hindering you. These could be your own attitude, your routines and habits, location, friends etc.

4. It gives us a sense of direction and focus. This therefore does not make you concentrate on unimportant things

5. It speeds progress Higher level of performance
